Our Foundation

**Statement of Faith for Emerge Church Jax**

We, the community of believers at Emerge Church Jax, declare our foundational beliefs in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Scriptures. As followers of Jesus Christ, we unite around the following core tenets of our faith:

1. The Triune God:
We believe in the one true God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the creator of the universe, and His nature is love, holiness, and sovereignty.
*Scripture: Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Isaiah 43:10-11*

2. The Authority of the Bible:
We affirm the Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, as the inspired and authoritative Word of God. The Bible is the final authority for faith and practice, guiding us in all matters of life and godliness.
*Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Psalm 119:105; Hebrews 4:12*

3. The Deity of Jesus Christ:
We confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully human. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and ascended to heaven. Jesus is the only way to salvation.
*Scripture: John 1:1,14; Philippians 2:5-11; Acts 4:12*

4. Salvation by Grace through Faith:
We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is not earned through good works, but it leads to a transformed life and good works as evidence of genuine faith.
*Scripture: Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:23-24; Titus 3:4-7*

5. The Work of the Holy Spirit:
We acknowledge the Holy Spirit as the active presence of God in the world and in the lives of believers. The Spirit convicts, regenerates, empowers, and sanctifies believers, enabling them to live a Christ-centered life.
*Scripture: John 14:16-17; Romans 8:9-11; Galatians 5:22-23*

6. The Church as the Body of Christ:
We affirm the universal church, composed of all believers, and the local church as a visible expression of the body of Christ. The church exists to worship God, disciple believers, and fulfill the Great Commission.
*Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Matthew 28:19-20; Ephesians 4:11-16*

7. Baptism and Communion:
We recognize baptism as a public expression of faith and obedience, symbolizing the believer's identification with Christ's death and resurrection. We celebrate communion as a regular remembrance of Christ's sacrifice and a communion of believers with one another.
*Scripture: Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 6:3-4; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26*

8. The Second Coming of Christ:
We anticipate the imminent return of Jesus Christ, the consummation of God's kingdom, and the final judgment. We live in hope, eagerly awaiting the fulfillment of God's redemptive plan.
*Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 22:20; Matthew 25:31-46*

9. Love, Unity, and Mission:
We commit to loving one another, pursuing unity in the Spirit, and engaging in the mission of making disciples of all nations. We strive to embody the love of Christ in our relationships and outreach to the world.
*Scripture: John 13:34-35; Ephesians 4:1-6; Matthew 28:18-20*

10. The Five-Fold Ministry:
We believe in the equipping ministry of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers for the edification and maturity of the body of Christ.
*Scripture: Ephesians 4:11-13; 1 Corinthians 12:28; Romans 12:6-8*

**11. Prosperity:**
We believe in God's desire to bless His people with prosperity, encompassing spiritual, physical, and material well-being, as a demonstration of His goodness and provision.
*Scripture: 3 John 1:2; Malachi 3:10; Philippians 4:19*

12. Repentance:
We acknowledge the necessity of repentance as a turning away from sin and a turning toward God, leading to forgiveness and restoration.
*Scripture: Acts 3:19; Luke 15:7; 2 Corinthians 7:10*

13. Prayer:
We believe in the power and importance of prayer as a means of communication with God, seeking His will and relying on His guidance and intervention.
*Scripture: Philippians 4:6-7; James 5:16; Matthew 6:6*

14. Eternity:
We affirm the reality of eternity, acknowledging that every soul will spend eternity either with God in heaven or separated from Him in hell, based on their relationship with Jesus Christ.
*Scripture: John 3:16; Revelation 20:11-15; 2 Corinthians 5:1*

This statement of faith, grounded in the Word of God, reflects our core beliefs as a community of believers at Emerge Church Jax. We submit ourselves to the authority of God's Word and seek to live out these truths in love and obedience.
